66+ Years Since Carl Musso’s First Delivery
Some grandpas tell stories. Mine lived them. Yesterday, I got to live one with him.
Here’s Carl Musso—“Papa Carl.” The man, the myth, the legend. To me, he’s more than family, he’s the living definition of the American Dream.
Born in 1941 on the Musso family farm in Pueblo, Colorado, Carl grew up with dirt under his nails and determination in his heart. At the end of Junior year at Pueblo County High School in 1958, he began selling produce door-to-door in neighborhoods like Bessemer, Salt Creek, and Goat Hill, to save the family farm.
Soon after, he painted a sign and set it up along Highway 50:
“5 Dozen Ears Sweet Corn – $1.00.”
That simple sign changed everything. It marked the start of a legacy of farming, feeding families, and serving Pueblo with pride.
Carl didn’t just sell produce—he built trust. He showed that a strong work ethic and love for the community could create something lasting.
Fast forward 66+ years, and I’ve been working to carry that torch with Musso’s Market | Mussos.com. In today’s world, families are busier than ever, but people still crave that same farm-fresh quality my grandpa built his name on. That’s why I set out to bring Pueblo’s produce and the famous fire-roasted chile straight to people’s doors.
Yesterday, something remarkable happened. For the first time in over 66 years, Papa Carl joined me on deliveries. Riding with him, watching him back in action, was more than just a proud moment—it was history coming full circle.
Musso’s Market isn’t just a business. It’s a continuation of his story, and a way to keep Pueblo’s farming legacy alive for generations to come.
So when you see a Musso’s Market box at your door, know this: you’re not just getting produce. You’re getting a piece of history, a legacy built with heart, love dedication and a tradition 66 years strong.
